VIETNAM, A PORTRAIT
Vietnam, A Portrait explores the complexities of Vietnam´s past and present, and looks at a country on the cusp of tremendous political and economic change while at the same time undergoing an exhilarating rediscovery of its vibrant artistic tradition.

Tim Hall explores Vietnam from the southern most points of the Mekong Delta to the northern tip of the red River Delta. Travelling by bus, stream train, boat, plane and car, Tim Hall along with Alain Evrard and Gerhard Joren make their separate forays into the vast diversity of Vietnam.

The result is a book which traces not only exquisite monuments and stunning landscapes, but the dynamism and warmth of the Vietnamese people. Putting a human face to a name, which too frequently conjures up images of war and strife is perhaps this book´s most important contribution to our understanding of Vietnam. Striking photographs capture the peoples´ intimacy with their land and their dedication to tradition, and pulls together the variegated skeins of their ethnic origins into a wonderful and easily comprehensible whole.

CAMBODIA- A PORTRAIT
Cambodia- A Portrait, offers a faithful portrait of a multi-faceted country determined to preserve its cultural identlity.

Tim Hall´s timely arrival into Cambodia coincided with the return of Prince Sihanouk to Phnom Penh in November 1991- an historic moment, heralding the possibility of a new era of Cambodian resurgence.

Tim Hall stayed in Cambodia for more than two months travelling to all parts of the country. It was a tough assignment, not only because of the extent of the area covered but also becasue of a still unsettled poltical climate which necessitated military escorts at times.

The rewards, however, were great, and the fruits of Tim Hall´s experience are the stunning photographs in this book. Here, are beautiful images depicting the many diverse aspects of the land, the people, the places and the tradtions that make Cambodia the enchanting country it is.
