I love to photograph the sea as it is like a blank canvas . I get a great sense of freedom as I leave the city and head towards the coast. My images of the sea aim to capture a sense of that freedom but also to invite a personal emotional response. I believe the simpler the image the more powerful it can be. A sense of balance is key for me in creating successful photographs. I am interested in the crossover between painting and photography and in my colour work there is often a blurred line between the two. I am especially inspired by painters such as Mark Rothko and Turner . My hope is that the viewer might be taken beyond the literal image, to a place in their own memory or experience.
